The imposition of duties on U.S. solar panel imports shouldn’t have a material impact on new installations, S&P Global Platts analysis shows, as hardware accounts for less than one third of costs. The tariffs have nonetheless had a material impact on upstream supply chains with 2Q imports having fallen by 29% sequentially and 37% on a year earlier.
