U.S. business sentiment towards export orders fell 49.5 from 51.7 a month earlier, pushing it into contractionary territory for the first time since Feb. 2016 in April, according to the latest ISM survey. On top of tariff concerns there are also worries now emerging about trade across the border with Mexico, where there’s been a shortage of customs agents and threats about a closure from President Donald Trump.
