Global container shipping rates continued their steady decline in October, with global average rates down by 11.7% at the end of October versus the end of September. At $795 per FEU that left them at the lowest since May 2018. Container-lines are trying to offset a slide in demand – including on Asia-Europe lines as well as Trans-Pacific – by using more void sailings as well as trying to push through General Rate Increases for November.
