Samsung S8 Shipment Surge to Follow 39% Vietnam-to-U.S. Vault

Samsung Electronics will release its Galaxy S8 range of phones on March 29, with deliveries to customers starting late April. That is similar timing to last year’s release of the ill-fated Galaxy S7 range. The S8 will be produced in Vietnam. U.S. imports from South Korea and Vietnam climbed 5% on a year earlier in January, with Vietnam shipments rising 39% to 2.1 million units. Last year the surge in volumes only started in March and continued in April. Samsung also manufactures phone in China, from which around 71% of of its exports go to South Korea.
