The Port of Virginia has completed a series of investments that will allow larger container vessels to use the port, potentially adding 40% ot the facility’s capacity at Norfolk. That follows a 13.9% surge in imports in the 12 months to May 31. While the U.S.-China trade war could overhang the port’s operations for an extended period, China only accounted for 32.7% of total inbound handling in the 12 months to June 30.
