The U.S. Commerce Department has made a preliminary anti-dumping determination against biodiesel exporters in Argentina and Indonesia at rates of up to 70%. At the same time it is working on a suspension agreement with the Argentine government (Indonesia has supplied no product in 2017). That has a parallel in the sugar suspension deal with Mexico, which has been difficult to maintain and took eight months to negotiate. Argentine exporters are clearly confident – exports climbed 14% in August vs. a year earlier and were 42% higher in the quarter to August 31.
