The U.K. government has proposed a series of measures to reform the Northern Ireland Protocol. The Protocol defines customs operations and is key to ensuring continued compliance with the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement by ensuring no physical barriers between Northern Ireland and Ireland. The government wants to remove the requirement for customs checks for products that are certified as destined for Northern Ireland and also to remove medical supplies from the Protocol altogether.
