Container shipping rates continued their heady ascent in November. Rapidly building congestion on major shipping routes and at many ports is the result of surging demand for both consumer and industrial products, hinting that a post-holiday slowdown may not occur. An emerging shortage of containers from India to the U.S. has led to additional surcharges though Adani Ports expects an easing up during December. Transpacific freight rates only rose by 4.0% during November though freight forwarders are facing delivery challenges with one stating “it’s not our fault that containers are buried...
