China’s ports handled 5% more containers in September, a slower rate than in August as larger ports increased just 3%. Guangzhou overtook Qingdao as third largest port. Exports to the U.S., China’s largest target market, increased 1% according to Panjiva data – potentially outstripping overall export growth for the month. Hong Kong’s long-term decline as a supplier port to the U.S. continued – exports fell for the 27th straight month on a year earlier.
