Containerized freight activity through China’s ports likely picked up in April, with COSCO Shipping Ports handling having risen by 8% on a year earlier in April after 3% in March. That was the 18th straight month of growth and was backed by a 13% growth in exports from China at the macroeconomic level. The only letdown was a 7% decline in handling at the COSCO-HIT terminal in Hong Kong, which has seen a broader slide in exports.
