The Indian government has launched an investigation of alleged subsidies provided to Chinese and Vietnamese exporters of stainless steel. That appears to be a regular CVD investigation rather than part of the expanding series of “safeguarding” cases launched recently. The case follows a 84% surge in imports in the second quarter on a year earlier, including a record high in June. The expansion has been led by shippers from Vietnam whose exports to India rose 4.5x to reach 38% of the total.
