Epson On It As Printer Imports Hint At Recovery

Info Tech - Tech Hardware 660 Thailand 114 U.S. 4848 Vietnam 310

Printers may be making a comeback as U.S. imports increased 2% in the first quarter and a further 9% in April. The growth was led by shipments from Vietnam and Thailand, partly reflecting supply chain shifts from producers including Brother and Ricoh. Much of the growth accrued to unbranded equipment. Only Epson has consistently increased shipments, by 14% in the first quarter and 1% in April. Ink usage may be falling, however, with imports of toner falling 14% in the first quarter and 13% in April.
