The European Commission will review whether to retain anti-dumping tariffs against U.S. bioethanol exports. The renewable fuels industry is subject to several trade cases globally, though the EU tariffs have proven particularly effective. Less than 1% of U.S. exports go to the EU. That hasn’t prevented significant growth for the industry though, with U.S. exports globally in December reaching a four year high after climbing 30% on a year earlier in the third quarter. The main customers for U.S. bioethanol, as defined in the EU case, are in Mexico and Canada (56% of shipments).
