Automotive manufacturing in the U.S. is facing a variety of challenges in the near-term that will require long-term strategies to fix. A shortage of semiconductors has led: General Motors to close four plants through mid-March; Ford to warn 10% to 20% of output could be lost in Q1’20; Nissan to cut its output target for fiscal 2021 by 3.6% and; Honda to reduce its production targets by 2.2% for the current fiscal year.
