Container-line CMA-CGM’s APL unit has increased the frequency of its Asia-Hawaii service to weekly following an initial launch last August. That comes as Hawaiian inbound traffic climbed 22% in the first quarter after a 7% growth in the prior three quarters. APL’s market share in the first quarter was 13%, putting it well behind established market leaders NYK (31%) and Matson (29%). With NYK now part of the larger Ocean Network Express group APL may need more thaa just a more frequent service to build its market share.
