The Indian government will apply duties against Chinese exports of the industrial solvent dimethylacetamide after finding dumping in the market in a case that has run since March 2017. The case is relatively small – Chinese exports to India were just $51 million in 2017 – and has only been partly successful, with imports having fallen by just 9% in the fourth quarter. Exporters from China have also been successful in other markets, with shipments in December climbing 69% to a new record on higher shipments to the U.S.
