U.S. international trade activity jumped 13.7% year over year in March including a 17.3% rise in trade-in-goods which was largely the result of a surge in imports of consumer goods. The increase in imports also reflects higher supply chain costs including sustained tariffs on imports from China. U.S. imports from China climbed 103% higher year over year in March and were 29.0% higher than the same period of 2019.
