Maersk Dances Ahead of CMA-CGM in Charleston as European Routes Turn Choppy

Container handling through South Carolina Ports, including Charleston, climbed 8% on a year earlier in May. That was the fastest rate since January and was the result in a 9% rise in imports vs. a 6% decline a month earlier and outperformed regional peer Savannah’s 3% increase. One fly in the ointment is shipments from Europe which fell 16% on a year earlier.
