Nippon Express is arriving a little late to the Asia-Europe rail business, but is offering an innovative air-and-rail combination to customers in Japan. The company estimates it will save up to 30 days vs. marine shipping and 40% in costs vs. airfreight. The firm’s initial plans are small, but come as Japanese exports to Europe have grown 8% in the past year. The expansion may continue ahead of the EPA trade deal between Japan and the EU.
