After reports of a takeover on January 18, Orient Overseas has denied it has been bid for. Reuters reports COSCO, Evergreen and CMA CGM have all stated they have not made such a move either. The topic of industry consolidation will remain in focus as Maersk and the Japanese shippers complete their deals this year, and as we enter the 4Q reporting season. Analysts forecast industry revenues to grow 2% in 2017, with Orient Overseas expected to grow 8% – the second highest in the industry.
