The U.S. government has ruled that alleged dumping of structural steel from China, Canada and Mexico has not harmed U.S. businesses. As a result tariffs won’t be applied. Shipments from China have slumped by 31.4% year over year in Q4 in response to the investigation, but those from Canada and Mexico surged 14.6% and 12.7% higher respectively with the result that total imports have increased. Shipments from Mexico have included project-specific shipments for Shell Chemical and Dragados Offshore, while ongoing exports by Valmont and CAP have increased by 1.8% and 60.2% respectively.
