Mobile phone network installations could begin to fall in 2017 according to Nokia. That could already be seen in exports by Chinese kit manufacturers which saw a 2% decline in the fourth quarter on a year earlier. There has been a pickup more recently, however, with a 2% expansion in the three months to January 31, led by a 44% expansion in shipments by Quanta. It appears to have taken market share from Huawei. U.S.-bound shipments were a bright spot, with a 23% increase for Chinese manufacturers, taking share from Mexican exports.
