Rebar Case Done After a Year, Builders End Up Paying

The U.S. ITC has made a final determination that Taiwanese exports of steel rebar has caused material injury to U.S. industry. That allows Commerce to apply duties, and is the final part of a six-piece case running since September 2016. The case has been partially effective as a deterrent. Imports from Taiwan and Japan fell by 90% and to zero respectively in the second quarter vs. the third quarter of 2016.
