Genesee & Wyoming will open a new rail line to transport plastic resins for export to the port of Savannah. That comes as U.S. exports of plastic resins have surged 17.4% year over year in the 12 months to Feb. 28 to reach $22.3 billion. That’s been led by a 34.0% surge in shipments to Europe, while exports to China have declined in the past quarter as a result of the imposition of tariffs.
