The U.S. ITC will continue its investigation of Chinese exports of decorative ribbon, the last trade petition it received in 2017, after finding reasonable evidence of harm to U.S. industry. The case comes against the backdrop of worsening trade relations between the two countries and Chinese calls for the U.S. to “exercise restraint” in using trade cases. Suppliers do not appear worried about the case so far. U.S. imports of plastic ribbon more broadly increased 5% in the fourth quarter on a year earlier, and while Chinese suppliers had the largest share it was just 32% in total in 2017...
