Shipping Corp of India reported fiscal first quarter revenues that increased 5% on a year earlier. That marked a turnaround from the prior year’s declines resulting from the group’s diversification of revenues. Liner and bulker carrier revenues increased 85% and 83% respectively, and account for 29% of revenues from 17% a year earlier. The tanker business dropped 13%, similar to that seen by Teekay. The tanker sector more broadly likely saw a revenue decline of 8% in the calendar second quarter.
