The port of Seattle received its first deliveries from CMA CGM’s new expedited sailing from China and Taiwan on Feb. 20. That forms part of the port’s short-term strategy to grow by “alleviating congestion in Southern California ports” of LA and Long Beach, with CMA CGM joining Wan Hai Lines in setting up new services to that end. Container freight handling through Seattle and Tacoma has grown only slowly versus the rest of the country.
