Singapore Port Handling Returns to Growth But Lags China

Container handling in Singapore returned to growth in March with a 7% improvement on a year earlier. That was somewhat slower than the 10% expansion experienced by China’s ports. Container shipments to the U.S. increased 5%, with Long Beach-bound shipments more than doubling Panjiva data shows. Oil shipments also increased 7%, though that was the slowest growth in six months and suggests OPEC production cuts are starting to drag on the oil logistics sector.
