Sixth The First Consumer Test for U.S. Commerce Resolve on Trade Cases

A petition to the U.S. Department of Commerce to investigate exports of tool boxes, chests and carriers from China and Vietnam is the sixth under President Trump’s administration. It is the first, however, to target a consumer product rather than industrial components or commodities. That may make it a test case for Commerce’s willingness to pursue cases more rapidly. Panjiva data shows imports actually jumped as far back as 2014, while supplies from China increased 22% in the first quarter.
