The U.S. Commerce Department has delayed a decision in its review of mechanical steel tubing imports from India and China by three months to September 18. The petitioners may be hoping for a harsher outcome for importers as a result of the section 232 “national security” review of the steel industry more broadly. A similar move was seen in a recent steel wire rod case. The petitioners are taking a big economic risk.
