Tariff Quote Watch: Deere’s Yet To Dig Itself Out Of All Duty Risks

Deere & Co. may face a $125 million drag to earnings in 2019 due to U.S. import tariffs on metals and Chinese exports, equivalent to 2.7% of analysts’ earnings estimates. The firm is “working with suppliers” to cut that number according to IR Director Josh Jepsen. If anything Deere has become more reliant on China – seaborne imports from China climbed 15.9% on a year earlier in the three months to Oct. 31 vs. 9.7% on average and declining imports from Japan, Mexico and Germany.
