The U.S. ITA has delayed its preliminary anti-dumping duty decision against tool chest exports from China and Vietnam to November 7 from September 18. That may be linked to petitioner hopes for a harsher treatment of Chinese supplies under the newly launched section 301 of trade practices, as well as technical data-assessment reasons. Panjiva data shows imports from China climbed 88% in the second quarter and by 8% vs. the first quarter, while total U.S. imports in July were 9% above second quarter levels. Suppliers appear unconcerned about the ITA’s actions.
