SeaTac airport handled 1% less international airfreight than a year earlier in October. A 31% jump in domestic volumes shows e-commerce volumes are alive and well even if other airports are the international hubs. Seafreight volumes coming into the region climbed 7% on a year earlier, driven by a 97% jump from Canada due to the end of the Softwood Lumber Agreement last year. The latter may be renegotiated in the coming months. Taken together the Panjiva Combined Cargo index for the northwest region increased 3% on a year earlier.
