Cargo’s Up At New York While Long Beach Faces Terror of Tariffs

America’s container ports saw an 8% surge in inbound volumes in June, the third month of accelerating growth. A major contributor to that was likely a rush to complete deliveries ahead of the escalating tariff spat between the U.S. and China. The new duties, which start taking effect from July 6 and will likely expand, have the potential to trim the ports’ performance during the rest of the year.
