IT network equipment providers including Cisco and Juniper have petitioned President Trump to exclude their equipment from a list of of $200 billion of Chinese exports that will shortly face 25% duties. It’s unlikely their pleas will be heard given network equipment from China accounts for $24 billion of U.S. imports. Removing them from the list would require either (a) cutting the headline figure or (b) including consumer products. One alternative could be lower duties.
