EU Duties Drill Into Chinese CORE Steel Exports

The European Commission has made a final decision to apply duties of up to 28% on Chinese exports of corrosion resistant (CORE) steels in a case going back to December 2016. The case has parallels in one completed in the U.S. in early 2016 and a similar product tariff evasion case in December 2017. It also comes against the backdrop of joint EU/Japan/U.S. attempts to rein-in excess capacity in the steel industry.
