India Commits to Steel Tariffs, Keeping Up With The U.S. and EU

The Indian government has committed to retaining steel tariffs on 124 products. These have largely been successful, with Panjiva data showing imports of Chinese iron and steel materials dropped 32% in 2016 while steel products dropped 9%. That has led the Chinese government to warn about excessive use of trade tariffs. Yet, the Indian government will want to keep up with any new measures from the U.S. government and the stricter stance being taken by the EU.
