The state visit by Premier Li of China has raised the prospect of increased agricultural exports from Australia. That was a key area of potential interest for the Australian government. Yet, as outlined in previous Panjiva research, this may require compromise in land ownership and agreement to join the RCEP trade deal. Panjiva analysis shows Australian farm exports globally fell 8% in the 12 months to January 31 on a year earlier, led by a 15% drop in beef and 16% slide in cereals. More details on future deals should emerge in the next few days.
