Maersk turns a corner on the road to post-pandemic normality in H1’21

Maersk has published Q2 results with revenues that fell by 6.5% year over year including a 15.8% slide in container volumes handled. Like other container-lines it has delivered increased profitability by cutting capacity and as a result of falling bunker fuel prices. The firm expects that “for Q3 2020 volumes are expected to progressively recover with a current expectation of a mid-single digit contraction” while CEO Soren Skou states that “some time during the first half next year we will have volumes back at the level we had in 2019”.
