Rail Near a Crossing, Sailors May Face a Sinking Employment Situation

Logistics industry employment in the U.S. expanded 3.3% on a year earlier in August, the fastest rate of growth since June 2017. E-commerce exposed sectors including couriers (9% higher) and warehousing (5%) continued their over six year runs. The improved growth rate overall though was down to an acceleration in trucking sector growth (2% higher) while the rail sector nearly returned to growth. During the peak shipping season a slowdown in import growth to 1% in August and the prospects of increased duty coverage for Chinese exports would suggest the long-term growth in logistics employ...
