The U.S. ITC will continue investigations of exports of steel wire rod from 10 countries having found reasonable indications of injury. A ruling on duties is not due until September, however. The ITC has five preliminary stage steel cases and a further 14 in active review. These will presumably be excluded from the Department of Commerce’s “section 232” review of the industry. Panjiva data shows some exporters may have rushed to beat this case’s duties. U.S. imports were 19% higher in March than a year earlier, including a 383% increase in imports from Spain.
