President Trump has ordered the USTR to consider duties on an additional $100 billion of Chinese exports. That’s a response to Chinese retaliation against America’s section 301 duties relating to Chinese IP practices, each of which covered products worth around $50 billion. The President has plenty of choice. Panjiva analysis shows that there are 6,502 product lines beyond the 1,643 already covered by the section 301 and section 232 (metals) reviews.
