Jets May Be a Soar Point in Canada-U.S. Relations Ahead of NAFTA

The U.S. Commerce Department will proceed with antidumping and subsidy investigations into Canadian aerospace exports. While driven by the mechanism of trade investigations, this comes just as the U.S. starts its NAFTA pre-negotiation consultations. It also coincides with controversy around the lumber trade. Panjiva data shows aerospace would have been a NAFTA negotiation focus anyway. The industry accounts for 2.8% of U.S. exports to Canada and 2.1% of Canadian exports to the U.S.
