B&G Foods faces rising freight, commodity costs as growth recovers in Q1

B&G Foods, owner of the Green Giant and other food brands, reported FQ4 revenues (to Jan. 2 2021) which rose by 8.5% year over year, missing analysts’ estimates by 4.4 percentage points. U.S. seaborne imports linked to the firm also only expanded slowly with growth of 2.9% in calendar Q4. The firm also had to deal with cost inflation “particularly for freight costs, certain agricultural products and other ingredient costs and packaging” according to CFO Bruce Wacha.
