DP World has started construction at its new deep water port at Posorga, Ecuador. The 750,000 TEU annual capacity facility will add 40% to the nation’s total handling, and should be ready for service by July 2019. Port handling in Ecuador expanded 7% year-to-date vs. three years ago, while in July this year exports expanded by 9% and imports fell 3%. That makes it the third fastest growing country in south America, with Brazil leading with 12% export surge and 4% import growth.
