Hong Kong Heads Ahead of the Mainland With November Traffic Jump

China 2999 Corp - Ports 893 Mode - Containerized 1489 Mode - Seaborne 1818

The Port of Hong Kong increased its container handling by 10% in November on a year earlier, the second month of growth after 27 months of decline. It is now gaining market share from the mainland, which increased volumes 6%, and lagged only Guangzhou among the major ports. The growth was likely driven by Asia- and Europe-bound routes as Panjiva data shows traffic destined for the U.S. increased by just 1%.
