Lego Systems’ new factory in China has just opened and will supply 70% to 80% of sales across Asia. Only $36 million out of the $129 million of imports by its Chinese subsidiary were toys in the past three years, indicating the huge scale of the investment required. The factory should reduce supply chain pressures elsewhere in the world, which may (along with timing of Star Wars film releases) have cut U.S. imports by 27% in October on a year earlier.
