Prime Minister Modi will meet with most of the ten ASEAN heads-of-state at India’s Republic Day celebrations, with trade relations likely to be on the agenda. India is likely keen to provide a counterweight within the RCEP deal negotiations which are centered on China and ASEAN among others. ASEAN has proven to be a lucrative market for India, with exports having risen 24% in the year to November 30, compared to total export growth of just 5%.
