Nike Sales Outlook Disappoints, Imports Open New Quarter Lower

Sportswear maker Nike reported future orders for the fiscal fourth quarter of 2017 down 1% on a year earlier vs. analyst expectations of 3% growth. That followed a similar disappointment from Under Armour in early February. Panjiva data shows imports associated with Nike coming into the U.S. by sea fell 45% on a year earlier in the three months to February 28. Imports for February alone, which feed sales for the first month of the new quarter, were 51% lower than a year earlier.
