Skecher’s, Under Armour Imports Slow as Sales Sprint Predicted

The apparent decline in the athleisure apparel industry continued in September. Imports of yoga products fell 16% on a year earlier, track clothing dropped 23% and tank tops dropped 12%. The latter has not grown since August 2014, Panjiva data shows. Trainers remain a standout with growth of 46%. Slowing imports translate into headaches for major brands. Skechers, which reports earnings on October 20, bucked the trainer trend. Its imports grew just 1.6% in the third quarter on a year earlier, whereas analysts expect 12% revenue growth.
